Surface laser treatment is a non-invasive therapy used to treat a range of superficial vascular and skin conditions. It is primarily effective for the management of spider veins and telangiectasia, as well as vascular skin concerns such as rosacea, port wine stains, and certain venous malformations.
Surface laser therapy can also be used to improve the appearance of scars and stimulate facial collagen rejuvenation, helping to enhance skin texture, tone, and overall skin quality. Treatments are targeted, precise, and designed to minimise damage to surrounding tissue while promoting natural healing.
The Vbeam® laser system uses pulsed dye laser technology to deliver an intense but gentle burst of light into targeted areas of the skin. This laser light is then absorbed by the target (blood vessel or pigmented area).
Most Vbeam® laser treatments require 3-4 sessions. The treatment will be determined complete when the desired outcome has been achieved by the patient and by the judgement of our team. How long the results last depends on several factors, including the condition being treated and your lifestyle.
The cost of your treatment is based on the duration of laser time/area to be treated.
Not everyone is suitable for laser treatment. Some people may need to take extra precautions:
Most patients are reclining or lying down, depending on the area being treated. There may be a warming or tingling sensation during the treatment, and redness immediately after treatment, which usually goes away in a few hours. Occasionally, a laser bruise called purpura may occur; this usually disappears in three to five days.
Most patients report a sensation similar to mild sunburn after the treatment. Vbeam® Prima uses Candela’s patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) and EverCool contact cooling, which increases comfort during treatment and minimises side effects such as redness.
Cool compresses or gel packs will be offered to you immediately after your treatment.
It is extremely important to practice sun safe measures by applying SPF50+ sunscreen to the treated areas .
It is okay to apply lotions/make up to the treated area after the treatment, just ensure there is no skin irritation present first.
You may experience some of the following side effects: itching, burning, hypo or hyperpigmentation and herpes simplex activation.
